Volvo to start 5 more dealerships

Volvo the Swedish luxury car maker is planning to open 5 more dealerships in India. It is getting excellent responses from Indian market. In order to grab luxury car market in India, the company is strengthening its network around the country. The expected dealerships will be at Kolkata, jaipur, Ahmadabad, Chennai and Bangalore. The Company is targeting 12 dealerships in India by the end of 2011.

Currently the company is selling its products through its dealerships in New Coimbatore, Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Kochi and Pune. The Company has recently launched Volvo S60 which is the cheapest car of Volvo in India. Volvo S60 is a luxury sedan; it will compete with other luxury brands like Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class in global market. It will also give a strong competition to Volkswagen Golf, Maruti Suzuki Kizashi and other similar models.

Speaking on this Managing Director of Volvo India Mr. Paul de Voijs said “We are very optimistic the market will continue to grow and gradually we will also become a significant player.” He also predicted that the Indian luxury car segment will touch about 140,000 to 150,000 units by 2020.
